Our client is looking for a Senior Tax Accountant in the Finance department reporting to the Director of Tax. The position will reside in the Washington, DC or NYC with hybrid work capabilities and will be responsible for assisting with the preparation of a variety of tax returns and filings, monitoring annual composite election process, preparation and analysis of monthly reconciliations and providing tax assistance as needed by the firm. The Senior Tax Accountant is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the firm’s attorneys, advisors and staff, and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement. Key responsibilities of this position include • Maintain checklist related to the filing deadlines of all the federal, state, and foreign tax returns • Prepare general ledger account analysis needed to support preparation of state and local tax filings and returns. • Prepare sales/use tax, property tax, and monthly/quarterly returns in a multi-state environment. • Assist with the annual composite tax return participation election forms and related tax forms and track receipt of forms from partners. • Record transactions and reconcile accounts belonging to investment partnerships and retirement plans. • Prepare/review monthly analysis and reconciliation of fixed assets and depreciation • Prepare workpapers to support month end closing, monthly and year end budget variance reports, and partnership tax returns. • Assist with the filing quarterly and annual tax estimates. • Research and analysis of technical issues.
Qualifications – Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business, preferably a B.S. degree • Certified Public Accountant credentials preferred • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experienced • Advanced proficiency and extensive experience in Microsoft Excel • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook and PowerPoint • Solid understanding of partnership accounting principles required
