Friedman Williams is working with an established, multi-office law firm seeking a Defense Litigation Associate with approximately 35 years of experience to join its New Jersey litigation practice. This fully remote opportunity offers substantive litigation responsibility, meaningful courtroom experience, and the flexibility to work from home without regular in-office requirements.
The firm’s defense litigation practice handles a broad range of complex civil litigation matters, including insurance defense, professional liability, product liability, labor law, premises liability, motor vehicle accidents, and general liability disputes. The incoming associate will manage substantive litigation assignments while working collaboratively with experienced attorneys in a technology-driven, team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities:

Handle all phases of New Jersey defense litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, depositions, and trial preparation.

Draft substantive motions, legal memoranda, discovery requests and responses, and other litigation documents.

Conduct legal research and prepare comprehensive reports, case evaluations, and legal analyses.

Attend and participate in court conferences, depositions, hearings, and trial proceedings.

Assist with developing litigation strategy and managing cases through resolution.

Communicate with clients and insurance carriers while ensuring compliance with applicable reporting and litigation guidelines.

Manage case deadlines, maintain accurate time records, and coordinate with other members of the litigation team.
Qualifications:

Approximately 35 years of litigation experience, preferably within a law firm environment.

Defense litigation experience involving one or more of the following: insurance defense, professional liability, product liability, labor law, premises liability, motor vehicle accidents, or general liability.

New Jersey Bar admission required; additional admission in New York, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania is a plus.

Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.

Substantive experience with discovery, motion practice, depositions, and courtroom proceedings.

Ability to manage multiple litigation matters independently while working effectively within a collaborative team.

Trial experience is preferred but not required.

Federal court or appellate experience is a plus.
Compensation & Additional Details:

Base salary of approximately $120,000$140,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Annual discretionary bonus.

Fully remote position with no regular in-office attendance requirement.
