We are partnering with a prestigious law firm to hire a Manager of Conflicts and New Business for its New York office. This is a highly visible leadership opportunity overseeing the firm’s conflicts, new business intake, and related risk functions.

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Manager will lead a team of four conflicts professionals and serve as the senior escalation point for complex conflicts and new business matters. This individual will work closely with firm leadership, attorneys, and business departments to evaluate and resolve potential conflicts of interest, oversee new business intake, strengthen policies and procedures, and help drive improvements to the firm’s conflicts and intake technology.

The ideal candidate will bring strong law firm conflicts and new business intake experience, hands-on knowledge of complex conflicts analysis, and experience leading or supervising a conflicts function.

This position is hybrid and requires a minimum of three days per week in the New York office.

Responsibilities:

Oversee the firm’s end-to-end conflicts, new business intake, and related risk processes

Manage and provide guidance to a team of Conflicts and Senior Conflicts professionals

Serve as the senior escalation point and liaison between firm leadership and relevant business departments

Conduct and oversee complex conflicts research, analysis, and resolution

Evaluate potential and actual legal conflicts of interest and advise attorneys on appropriate resolution strategies

Identify situations requiring conflict waivers and discuss appropriate next steps with requesting attorneys

Draft and review screening memoranda and other conflicts-related documentation

Review new business intake forms for accuracy, completeness, and appropriate party information

Review client engagement letters and new matter requests

Conduct due diligence and corporate family research involving clients, prospective clients, subsidiaries, affiliates, and related parties

Maintain the integrity and accuracy of client and matter information within the firm’s databases

Develop, review, and implement conflicts and new business intake policies and procedures

Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve operational efficiency

Play a key role in conflicts and new business intake system upgrades and related downstream system initiatives

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required; Juris Doctor degree preferred

Approximately 3-5+ years of conflicts and new business intake experience, preferably within a law firm environment

Experience overseeing, supervising, or managing the conflicts process and conflicts professionals

Strong hands-on experience conducting complex conflicts research, analysis, and resolution

Strong understanding of legal conflicts, risk issues, and professional responsibility considerations

Experience with new business intake and client/matter databases

Experience with Intapp Open and/or Intapp Conflicts preferred

Experience with S&P Capital IQ, Hoovers, LSEG World-Check One, or similar corporate research platforms preferred

Experience participating in or leading conflicts and new business intake system upgrades is a plus

Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

Ability to analyze large amounts of complex information and communicate findings clearly to attorneys and senior leadership
