We are partnering with a highly respected national law firm to hire a Risk & Compliance Attorney to join its Risk Management team in Washington, DC. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced attorney with a background in law firm risk management, compliance, and client engagement who enjoys partnering directly with attorneys to solve complex legal and operational issues.
This non-practicing attorney role reports to the Director of Risk Management and plays a key role in reviewing client agreements, advising attorneys on risk and compliance matters, supporting new business intake, and driving process improvements across the firm.

Responsibilities:
· Review and negotiate Outside Counsel Guidelines, client engagement letters, client responses, and other client agreements
· Assist with audit letter preparation
· Respond to attorneys regarding risk and compliance questions
· Support new business intake, conflict waivers, and ethical screens
· Review contracts and identify legal and compliance risks
· Conduct legal research on regulatory and compliance matters affecting the firm
· Collaborate with attorneys and internal departments to resolve client agreement issues
· Assist with data privacy, information governance, and firm policy initiatives
· Develop training materials and help improve compliance processes and workflow technologies
· Lead or support strategic projects related to risk management and firm operations
Qualifications:
· Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school required
· Active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar (DC Bar preferred)
· At least 5 years of legal experience in a law firm or professional services environment
· Experience in compliance, conflicts, and/or operational support
· Strong background reviewing and negotiating contracts, engagement letters, and legal documents
· Knowledge of legal risk assessment and professional responsibility issues
· Self-starter with excellent analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
· Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail
