A global law firm in New York City is seeking a highly organized, experienced, and proactive Senior Collections Coordinator to join its U.S. Business Finance/Accounting team. This role is integral to driving cash collections, monitoring the aging of client receivables, and supporting partners and clients across the U.S. region. The ideal candidate brings strong communication skills, exceptional follow‑up discipline, and prior experience with collections programs in a professional services or law firm environment. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated professional to contribute to a high‑performing Business Finance team within a global organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of client accounts to ensure timely collection of outstanding receivables.
- Partner closely with billing attorneys and practice groups to execute proactive follow‑ups and identify potential payment issues.
- Communicate professionally with clients regarding payment status, invoice inquiries, and account reconciliations.
- Track, monitor, and report on collection activity, including aging, progress, and expected cash receipts.
- Prepare client analyses, reconciliations, and realization schedules to support invoice collections.
- Identify collection risks early and escalate concerns as appropriate to the Head of Revenue.
- Support month‑end cash forecasting and firmwide collection initiatives, including year‑end campaigns.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records within the firm’s financial systems (Aderant, Elite, 3E, or similar).
- Assist with process improvements to enhance the firm’s collections platforms and workflows.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 4+ years of collections experience, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.
- Strong understanding of billing, accounts receivable, and cash application processes.
- Excellent communication, diplomacy, and client service skills.
- Proven ability to build effective relationships with attorneys, clients, and cross‑functional teams.
- High attention to detail with strong Excel and financial systems proficiency.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
