Seeking an experienced Managing Clerk or Managing Attorney to lead and oversee firmwide docketing, court filings, and procedural compliance. This is a critical, hands-on role requiring deep experience managing court filings across federal and state courts, ensuring procedural accuracy, and maintaining proactive oversight of case deadlines.
The position may be structured for either a non-attorney managing clerk or an attorney with procedural expertise, depending on background and qualifications.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of court filings across federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
- Ensure filings are submitted accurately and in compliance with applicable rules and deadlines.
- Review and manage redactions, sealed filings, and exhibits to maintain procedural integrity.
- Track and manage litigation deadlines proactively, juggling multiple filings and priorities.
- Serve as a resource to litigation teams on procedural issues, including court rules, filing protocols, and scheduling.
- Coordinate closely with attorneys, case managers, and support staff to ensure timely and efficient submissions.
- Maintain and refine internal docketing systems and processes to enhance reliability and efficiency.
- Provide training and guidance to attorneys and support teams on best practices for filings and court procedures.
Qualifications
Managing Clerk (Non-Attorney):
- 10+ years of docketing or managing clerk experience within a law firm environment.
- Deep knowledge of New York state, federal, and local court rules and filing procedures.
- Proven ability to manage high-volume filings with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with a proactive, solutions-driven mindset.
Managing Attorney:
- J.D. and admission to the New York Bar.
- Significant litigation experience with strong familiarity with court rules, motion practice, and filing procedures.
- Ability to provide procedural guidance to attorneys and staff and ensure compliance with all relevant filing standards.
- Demonstrated leadership, poise, and commitment to process excellence.
