SUMMARY

Provide support to Bankruptcy and Financial Restructuring attorneys by providing docketing, research, document drafting and electronic filing assistance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in large chapter 11 bankruptcy and related adversary cases
  • Draft orders, notices, and certificates of service and coordinate service of documents
  • Document review and Management
  • Prepare exhibits for trial and evidentiary hearings
  • Prepare and maintain detailed logs to track case development and status
  • Organize and summarize factual data collected
  • Maintain bankruptcy group calendar noting hearing dates and important deadlines
  • Prepare petitions and schedules for Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases
  • Prepare involuntary bankruptcy petitions
  • Draft pleadings and orders for bankruptcy and adversary cases
  • Review and edit pleadings for bankruptcy and adversary cases
  • Prepare and file proofs of claim
  • Prepare fee applications
  • Draft and serve subpoenas
  • File documents with the U.S. bankruptcy courts nationwide
  • Assist with claims reconciliation
  • Retrieve on-line case information, dockets and pleadings from U.S. bankruptcy courts
  • Perform legal research
  • Track and meet bankruptcy and adversary case deadlines
  • Work with Litigation Technology Department, litigation attorneys and Fraud Team to assist on cases that cross from Bankruptcy to Litigation

SKILLS

  • Proficient in Word and Excel
  • Working knowledge of Best Case Software
  • Detailed knowledge of navigating and interacting with various state and city agencies/departments and courts
  • Strong e-filing experience
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to prioritize and work efficiently

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate; or equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of degree
  • Minimum of three years of litigation/bankruptcy experience
  • Experience in filing chapter 11 cases, preparing and filing monthly operating reports, and preparing fee applications preferred
  • Trial prep and trial experience
  • Ability to work overtime, as needed

The good faith base salary for this position is $80,000 – $95,000 per year. The actual salary rate offered to candidates within that range will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, years of relevant experience, education, and the candidate’s overall qualifications for the position as assessed by the firm.
