Overview: The Real Estate Paralegal works directly with our attorneys providing legal assistance and support in all areas of commercial real estate transactions including title and survey. This full-time position is located in Newark, New Jersey and reports to the Administrative Manager.
Responsibilities Include:
- Manage and coordinate commercial real estate transactions from contract to closing.
- Review commercial title commitments, surveys, zoning reports and environmental reports. Prepare title and survey memos, write title objection letters and respond to title objections.
- Prepare and review real estate documents, including purchase and sale agreements, leases, loan documents, closing checklists, and title and survey review summaries with critical date timelines.
- Work closely with title companies, surveyors and third parties to resolve and clear title objections and obtain the final title policies and endorsements.
- Draft and/or review transactional real estate and loan documents, including deeds, transfer tax forms, affidavits of title, UCC-1 financing statements, collateral descriptions and escrow letters.
- Coordinate closing directly with attorneys, clients, lenders, and escrow/title officers.
- Keep attorneys and clients apprised of upcoming deadlines and critical dates.
- Maintain client confidence by keeping client/attorney information confidential and handling work matters with professionalism.
Specific Requirements:
- 7 – 10 years of NJ/NY commercial real estate paralegal experience in a law firm.
- Thorough understanding of NJ/NY title and survey, title insurance policies, forms and endorsements, (including ALTA & CLTA endorsements for typical purchase and sale, and loan transactions), NJ bulk sale applications
- Extensive knowledge of real estate terminology and strong understanding of the commercial transactional and financing process.
- Extraordinary attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and complete a high volume of work in a timely manner
- Strong technical skills in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple real estate transactions simultaneously while consistently delivering quality work product to attorneys and clients
