Overview:
We are currently seeking an experienced Plaintiff’s Medical Malpractice Paralegal to join our fast-paced, successful team in our Long Island office. This exciting role offers growth, independence and learning opportunities for a motivated self-starter with plaintiff’s litigation experience seeking a fulfilling and dynamic paralegal career.
Schedule:
M-F In Office
9am – 5pm
Qualifications:
- Paralegal Certificate or similar Certification/Degree
- 5+ years of plaintiff’s medical malpractice litigation experience in all NY Court Systems, including knowledge of Medical Malpractice specific Procedures and Requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to draft professional letters, and emails
- Ability to integrate into a fast-paced environment, comfortable with tracking, prioritizing, and managing a case load of approximately 20-25 cases at a time.
- Comfortable with computers, scanning, PDFs. DropBox, Legal Case Management systems a plus
Must:
- Familiar with each part of a Medical Malpractice case from start to finish
- Ability to electronically file and pull documents from NYSCEF
- Drafting all pleading, Summons and Complaints (and coordinating the Service), Notice of Medical Malpractice, Bills of Particulars, Verified Claims, Notice of Intention, etc.
- All aspects of Discovery & Litigation, Responding to Demands, Providing Medical Records, and appropriate HIPAA compliant authorizations, Drafting and serving Demands on multiple defendants
- Subpoenas, Expert Disclosures
- Must be comfortable working with cases involving multiple defendants
- All aspects of Medical Record requests with numerous providers and procedures
Bonus if experience includes:
- Trial Preparation
- Expert coordination
- Process Server coordination
- Judicial Subpoenas
- Motion drafting
- Reviewing medical records
- Experience with legal case management systems
- Familiarity with Surrogate’s Court for cases involving a deceased client.
- Wrongful Death Compromise and/or Infant Compromise
