Summary
The Director of Client Legal Operations will lead a interdisciplinary team to improve client service and implement project management best practices for the some of the firm’s largest clients. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of managing high-performance teams, including Legal Project Managers, and fostering strong client relationships. This role involves developing and structuring a team that aligns with industry recommended practices to deliver superior client service and efficient account management.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop, lead, and mentor a team to strengthen strategic client relationships and effectively deploy firm resources
- Act as the primary liaison between the client and internal teams — Pricing, Marketing, Accounting, IT, eDiscovery — to ensure that client strategy is implemented consistently
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key client stakeholders
- Coordinate interdepartmental teams and efficiently manage internal resources, including:
o Pricing
o Legal Project Management
o Accounting
o eDiscovery and Litigation Support
o Marketing
o Secondments
- Partner with Relationship Managers and marketing to understand client business objectives, track key client deliverables, and report on relevant outcomes while highlighting value generated by the team.
- Oversee the implementation of pricing and project management best practices to improve financial metrics of client relationships.
- Uphold high standards of confidentiality, discretion, and integrity, particularly with respect to all sensitive and/or confidential firm and client information to which this position will have access.
Qualifications
- Experience managing legal operations and interdisciplinary teams for key institutional clients
- Strong knowledge of US, European, and Asian legal markets
- Experience in a similar role with an international professional services firm
- Am Law 100 and/or equivalent in-house legal experience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong problem-solving ability with a client-focused mindset
- Ability to interpret and analyze data to drive decision-making
- Proficiency in CRM software and other client relationship management tools
- PMP, MBA and/or JD is preferred
- Strong managerial skills required
- Effective presentation and client development skills
- Ability to align firm business segments with client requirements and outside counsel guidelines
