Legal Assistant / Paralegal Hackensack NJ

Seeking highly organized candidates with excellent communication skills and a minimum of 5 years of legal assistant/paralegal experience in Intellectual Property and Commercial Litigation, for our New Jersey office. Applicants must be proficient using Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Drafting pleadings, such as Answers, Motions and other legal documents
- Preparing, serving and answering written discovery demands and responses, including but not limited to Interrogatories and Notices to Produce
- Prepare and serve letters to clients
- Managing and maintaining calendars; scheduling depositions, filing dates, and other appointment, with diligent follow-up on all related deadlines
- E-filing documents in State, Federal and Appellate Courts
- Knowledge of New Jersey and New York state and federal litigation procedure and discovery deadlines.
- Other responsibilities may entail supporting attorneys and team members as necessary, managing multiple on-going assignments, effectively communicating with external parties (clients, court officials, opposing counsel offices, etc.), and participating in office-wide projects as needed.
- Prepare trademark applications, preliminary clearance searches and filing responses to Office Actions and TTAB actions a plus
- Some Administrative duties
Candidate Qualifications:
- The candidate should have an understanding of local, state and federal rules and procedure, particularly for filing purposes
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Capacity to work in a team setting and perform tasks/projects independently
- Reliable and responsive, particularly due to current remote working environment
- Ability to follow directions and ask for guidance if not understood
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet strict deadlines
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Zoom
- Availability/flexibility to work overtime
Hybrid Hours:
Monday-Friday, 9am – 5pm with the flexibility to work overtime when needed
Minimum 3 days a week in office, 2 days a week remotely
