My client is looking for an experienced STAFF ACCOUNTANT with Law Firm experience.
In this role you would closely with Firm management and prepare standard reports, statements, and more. You will be a critical member of the accounting team, and assist Firm Management on various deliverables as directed.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assists on various quarterly and year-end reporting.
  • Collaborate with Management on best practices for law firm accounting.
  • Coordinate with HR/Payroll on state unemployment and related taxation requirements, such as state workers compensation if needed.
  • Assist in payroll processing, payroll inquiries, payroll reports.
  • Assist in maintaining, analyzing, and updating general ledger entries.
  • Assist in posting transactions for general ledger and for client billing.
  • Reconcile monthly bank statements timely and accurately, including for general operations.
  • Reconcile with trust accounting and compliance requirements.
  • Assist with workers compensation audit responses and related accounting functions for payroll and general administration.
  • Perform investigations and resolves issues related to reconciliations, general bookkeeping, financial analysis, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Assist with collections and collection resolutions, related payroll and/or general ledger.
  • Prepare and/or assist on surveys, audits, and taxes as may be requested.
  • Assist in preparation of month-end and year-end closings.
  • Prepare, file, and resolve issues related to state registrations for business transactions.
  • Utilize information and summarize financial reports to better understand the firm’s financial position and provide meaningful data to firm management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Proven experience as a Staff Accountant professional who has the desire and ability to grow and develop professionally at a mission-based law firm. Top notch organizational skills and excellent communication to manage deliverables proficiently from Firm Management, support staff and clients. Microsoft Office Suite experience with advanced MS Excel skills including Charts, VLOOKUPs, Sumifs and pivot tables. 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance. Additional relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Working knowledge of payroll principals, taxation and processes is preferred.
  • Must have 3-5 years’ progressive accounting responsibility working in a professional services firm.
  • Experience working as a Staff Accountant in a medium to large law firm (50+ lawyers, a plus) or substantial work experience in the required essential accounting deliverables as are noted above.
  • Must demonstrate working knowledge of developmental math and fundamental accounting principles and related processes.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat. Familiarity with client data base software and reporting requirements is a plus.

  • Compensation and Benefits:

Position is non-exempt, regular, and full-time with compensation based on education, years of relevant experience and the marketplace. In-office attendance policy is one day weekly (Thursdays). Work schedule is 9:30am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday; additional hours beyond the normal workday are required as needed.  The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $90,000, and includes a comprehensive benefits package, plus 13-paid Federal holidays and bonus eligible.
