Job Overview: The ideal candidate will extend their expertise beyond traditional litigation paralegal responsibilities, engaging in research regarding foreign actions, drafting client updates, and organizing documents necessary for client participation in litigation. This role offers the opportunity to contribute significantly to our firm’s client development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proofread client reports for accuracy and clarity.
  • Perform cite-checking on legal documents.
  • Prepare initial drafts of written case updates for clients based on materials provided by attorneys.
  • Maintain and update calendars for group tasks and deadlines.
  • Maintain and update charts and an internal program tracking client involvement in cases and status.
  • Assemble and tailor materials for clients participating in cases.
  • Assist business development attorneys in evaluating prospective institutional clients and preparing client pitches by assembling client intelligence and track records of involvement in litigation.
  • Research potential and filed cases using various sources, including the internet, SEC-EDGAR filings, ThomsonOne, and Westlaw/Lexis, to obtain necessary information efficiently.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a civil or commercial litigation paralegal.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw or Lexis, PACER, and other legal/business platforms like Bloomberg Law, Refinitiv, and S&P Global.
  • Expertise in cite-checking and Bluebooking.
  • Strong proofreading skills.
  • Self-driven and motivated problem solver with a proactive approach.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of managing multiple requests effectively.
  • Proficiency in internet research and office programs such as Word, Excel, Access, and Adobe.
  • Willingness to work overtime regularly.
  • A finance background or general understanding of financial investments and securities litigation is a plus.
  • Some knowledge of the PSLRA, stock market, trading, finance, and familiarity with SEC filings is strongly preferred.
