Great Full-Time Opportunity in Buffalo, NY for an experienced Network Engineer with a specialized focus on managing physical and virtual Windows servers and experience with Citrix and Microsoft Azure.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate an understanding of network infrastructure principles and exhibit proficiency in ensuring the operational integrity and efficiency of information systems. This role emphasizes the administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Windows servers, with a significant component of the work involving Citrix and VMware platforms. The ideal candidate will also have experience in cloud technologies such as Microsoft Azure, Entra, and M365.

It is crucial that this individual be able to work collaboratively with remote team members and managers and is capable of being self-directed regarding daily tasks. While there may be some opportunities to work remotely, this is NOT primarily a remote position and only candidates within commuting distance of the Buffalo office will be considered.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Windows Server Management: Configure, manage, and ensure the high availability and optimal performance of Windows Server environments. This includes expertise in Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy management.

• Citrix Management: Administer and support Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, including provisioning, application deployment, and user access management. Monitor system performance and user experience, ensuring high levels of operational continuity and efficiency.

• Microsoft Azure: Implement, manage, and maintain Azure services and infrastructure, including Azure Active Directory, VMs, Azure Networking, and Exchange Online.

• Network Infrastructure: Support the network infrastructure, including switches, routers, and managed firewalls, and VPNs.

• System Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Employ monitoring tools to oversee system and network performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues to minimize downtime.

• Security and Compliance: Apply and manage security solutions to protect systems against unauthorized access, in line with industry standards and regulations. Manage patching and hardening of Windows servers and work with the firm’s managed security provider to remediate potential security vulnerabilities.

• Backup and Disaster Recovery: Manage and maintain the firm’s backup and disaster recovery systems.

• Documentation and Reporting: Keep detailed documentation of network setups, configuration changes, and operational procedures. Produce reports on infrastructure health, incidents, and performance metrics.

• Collaboration and Support: Collaborate with IT teams on projects and initiatives. Offer technical support and guidance on network-related matters. Work with other members of the department to ensure the firm’s users are able to be productive 24X7X365.

• Utilize excellent communication skills to convey complex IT issues/concepts into short explanations and simple terms.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: The qualifications listed below are representative of the education, experience, skills, knowledge and abilities required for this position.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field strongly preferred.

• Demonstrable experience in network engineering, with a strong focus on Windows Server management, Citrix, and Microsoft Azure.

• Deep understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP), services (DNS, DHCP), and security practices.

• Expertise in Microsoft technologies, including Active Directory, Group Policy, and PowerShell scripting, alongside Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops.

• Knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and familiarity with cloud services, especially Azure.

• Windows 10, 11, Microsoft Teams, O365, Azure, Intune and Desktop/laptop Imaging technology knowledge.

• Familiar with Microsoft SQL servers and databases.

• Strong analytical skills for diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for explaining technical information effectively to non-technical staff.

• Ability to travel to other offices as needed.

• Willingness to work after-hours in emergency situations, including weekends and holidays.

• Ability to work remotely when necessary.

• Focus on maintaining confidentiality of company information. • Comply with, and make positive contribution to, all company policy, rules and procedures for Health & Safety and best practices.

• Initiative, flexibility, resiliency, and a willingness to adapt to change. • Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, MCSE, Citrix Certified, Azure Administrator Associate) are highly desirable.

• More than 40 hours per week may be required to perform the essential duties of the position.
