Job Title: Assistant Managing Clerk

Reports to: Managing Attorney

Responsibilities:

  • Electronic Filing:

    • Conduct electronic filing of documents in state and federal courts.
  • Docketing and Calendar Management:

    • Utilize the eDockets docketing system to calendar case information.
    • Compute future calendar dates based on methods of service and document filing.
    • Access and manage information on the internal electronic docket and calendar, including case history and filing deadlines.
  • Monitoring and Research:

    • Electronically monitor all firm active matters, cases, and litigants of interest through databases such as Westlaw, Bloomberg Law, and E-Law.
    • Research and respond to procedural questions related to the service and filing of court papers.
    • Provide extensive knowledge of court rules and procedures to assist attorneys with Federal, State, and Local rules, procedures, and court-related guidelines.
  • Document Review:

    • Review electronically and manually filed documents to ensure compliance with applicable rules.
  • Independent Work and Attention to Detail:

    • Work independently under pressure, demonstrating extraordinary attention to detail.
  • Communication:

    • Communicate with court and agency personnel to obtain information on the status of motions and applications.
    • Confirm conference and hearing dates online and with court personnel.
  • Form Preparation:

    • Provide sample forms of pleadings and other legal documents from the electronic form file.

Experience:

  • 3-5+ years of relevant experience required.

Additional Requirements:

  • Flexibility to work overtime.

Note: Experience in using eDockets is preferred.
