Job Title: Construction Litigation Labor Law Attorney

Job Description: Our client is seeking an experienced Construction Litigation Labor Law Attorney to join their expanding team. The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in handling cases related to Labor Law Sections 240(1) and 241(6), as well as contractual indemnification issues between the parties. Strong experience in Labor Law depositions is a requirement for this role. The selected attorney will be an integral part of a thriving team and will have the opportunity to independently manage cases, while benefiting from collaboration and support from team leaders.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Case Management: Manage construction litigation cases from inception to resolution, ensuring all legal requirements and deadlines are met.

  2. Client and Carrier Interaction: Communicate effectively with clients and insurance carriers, providing updates, addressing concerns, and ensuring client expectations are met.

  3. Court Appearances: Appear in court for conferences, hearings, and motion practice related to construction litigation cases.

  4. Discovery Compliance: Oversee and participate in the discovery process, including document production, interrogatories, and requests for admission.

  5. Depositions: Take and defend depositions as required in construction litigation cases, leveraging strong deposition experience.

  6. Coordination: Coordinate medical examinations and expert witness evaluations as necessary to support the cases.

  7. Motion Practice: Prepare, file, and argue motions in court related to construction litigation cases.

  8. Premises Liability: The team also handles premises liability cases, so a general working knowledge of negligence cases is preferred.

  9. Admissions: New York bar admission is required, and New Jersey bar admission with New Jersey litigation experience is a plus.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of substantive experience in construction litigation, with a focus on Labor Law Sections 240(1) and 241(6).
  • Strong experience in Labor Law depositions.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Familiarity with premises liability and negligence cases is advantageous.
  • New York bar admission is required, and New Jersey bar admission with NJ litigation experience is a plus.
