Director of Reporting & Pricing (Hybrid – Los Angeles, CA) (3 days on site, 2 days remote)
We are partnering with a prestigious law firm to hire an experienced Director of Pricing for its Los Angeles office. This is a highly visible leadership position responsible for overseeing the firm’s pricing strategy, financial reporting, profitability analysis, and client and timekeeper data functions.
Working closely with senior Finance leadership, Practice Group leaders, Business Development, attorneys, and the firm’s Data teams, the Director of Pricing will lead the development and ongoing refinement of pricing strategies while ensuring financial reporting, matter setups, rate structures, and underlying data are accurate, consistent, and positioned to support strategic decision-making.
The position will initially manage a team of three employees across pricing, reporting, and client/timekeeper data, with the potential for the team to grow as responsibilities within Accounting continue to evolve.
The successful candidate will bring a strong combination of people leadership, law firm pricing, financial reporting, data analysis, and technical expertise. This individual must be an experienced manager who is comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment, proactively identifying needs, driving processes forward, and working closely with senior stakeholders.
This is a hybrid position requiring three days per week in the Los Angeles office. No travel is required.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the firm’s pricing and financial reporting functions, supporting profitability, competitiveness, and data-driven decision-making

Manage the pricing/reporting and client/timekeeper data teams, including workload management, coaching, employee development, performance evaluations, timecard approval, and PTO administration
-
Develop and prepare pricing proposals in response to client RFPs while ensuring alignment with firm policies and profitability objectives

Partner with attorneys and Practice Group leaders on matter budgets, pricing estimates, alternative fee arrangements, and related financial analysis

Assist in managing firm and client rates, annual rate increases, rate structures, and related reporting

Prepare monthly, annual, and ad hoc financial reports for firm leadership, attorneys, clients, and other stakeholders

Create reports analyzing firm financial performance, profitability, pricing trends, and other key financial metrics

Review client, matter, rate, and timekeeper data for accuracy, consistency, and appropriate setup

Ensure client rates and matter arrangements are properly configured and accurately reflected in firm reporting

Develop and modify reports using Power BI, SSRS, SQL, Aderant, and related reporting tools
-
Create and validate SQL queries used for financial analysis, reporting, and data reconciliation
-
Modify Aderant inquiries, reporting functionality, and security settings as needed
-
Review existing reports for accuracy, consistency, appropriate distribution, and continued business relevance

Partner closely with Finance, Accounting, Business Development, Data teams, attorneys, and firm leadership on pricing and reporting initiatives

Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting capabilities, data integrity, and overall efficiency
-
Take ownership of projects and problems through resolution while proactively anticipating the needs of leadership and internal stakeholders
Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in pricing, financial reporting, financial analysis, or a related function, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment

Minimum 3 years of direct people management experience

Demonstrated experience managing both people and business processes within a fast-paced professional environment
-
Strong experience with law firm or professional services pricing, including rates, pricing proposals, matter budgets, profitability analysis, and financial reporting
-
Advanced SQL skills, including the ability to create, analyze, troubleshoot, and validate queries
-
Strong Power BI experience highly preferred

Experience with Aderant strongly preferred

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
-
Experience creating and managing financial and management reporting, including ad hoc analysis and executive-level reporting
-
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues, develop solutions, and take ownership through implementation

Demonstrated leadership ability with experience coaching, developing, and holding employees accountable
-
Proactive working style with the ability to anticipate needs and operate effectively with limited direction

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with attorneys, senior leadership, Finance, Business Development, technical teams, and staff at all levels

Bachelor’s degree preferred
