Our client is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. We are currently seeking a Business Development Manager to help drive the strategic growth of the firm’s Corporate practice, with an emphasis on Energy & Infrastructure. This position may reside in the New York, Washington, D.C., Houston, Dallas, Boston or Chicago office and report to the Director of Business Development.

The Business Development Manager will focus primarily on the development of compelling client-facing materials, strategic pitches and polished proposals, collaborating closely with attorneys and BD colleagues to support high-value transactional work and projects across renewable energy, energy transition, oil & gas, power, infrastructure, transportation and other related sectors. They are expected to have substantial industry knowledge and develop a deep understanding of our clients’ businesses.

The ideal candidate is a creative thinker, has strong written and verbal communications skills, a client service-oriented approach, attention to detail, intellectually curiosity, and works well in teams and autonomously. They must be organized and have strong follow-through, proactive, be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, adapt to changing priorities, and work well in a fast-paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Craft persuasive, tailored pitches and proposals that showcase the firm’s strengths in energy, infrastructure and related corporate practices, with related research and follow-through.
  • Work with Proposals team to project-manage complex RFP responses from intake to final submission, ensuring accuracy, alignment and a strong competitive narrative.
  • Develop and maintain core BD assets, including capability statements, tombstones, practice descriptions and industry-specific collateral.
  • Collaborate with digital and design teams to enhance visuals, positioning and messaging across materials.
  • Lead the ongoing collection, maintenance and accuracy of our experience database.
  • Write and maintain marketing collateral, including web content, pitch books, attorney biographies and other marketing assets.

Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Assist with lateral partner integration.
  • Organize client events, including list management.
  • Respond to various industry awards, surveys and directories.
  • Evaluate and coordinate sponsorships, speaking and other visibility efforts.
  • Keep apprised of market, client and competitor trends, and disseminate information on key developments and actionable information as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Marketing and Business Development team to facilitate information-sharing and cross-selling among practices.
  • Facilitate internal communications and knowledge sharing among team members and across the firm.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Advanced PowerPoint skills are essential, with an eye for formatting and design elements. Strong experience with Microsoft Word and Excel is also key.
  • Experience with Salesforce or other CRM systems
  • Experience with Foundation or other matters experience databases
  • Ability to prioritize and manage workload, work independently and as a member of teams, and complete tasks under time pressure as necessary

EDUCATIONAL/JOB EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, law or related discipline (required).
  • 5+ years of business development or marketing experience in a law firm (required).
  • Experience supporting Energy, Project Finance, or Infrastructure practices is highly preferred.
