Mid-Size Law Firm | New York City | Hybrid (3 Days In-Office)

Our client, a well-regarded mid-size law firm, is seeking an experienced Conflicts Analyst in their NYC office to play a vital role in maintaining the firm’s ethical integrity and managing risk. This position offers meaningful responsibility, visibility, and the opportunity to work closely with attorneys and firm leadership in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

In this role, you will oversee the firm’s conflicts process from start to finish, identifying, analyzing, resolving, and documenting potential conflicts related to new business intake, lateral hires, and ongoing matters. You will also supervise and develop the conflicts team and serve as a trusted resource to attorneys across practice groups.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the firm’s conflicts process to ensure compliance with ethical rules and regulatory requirements
  • Administer and enhance the firm’s conflicts platform, including recommending and implementing system and process improvements
  • Develop, implement, and maintain conflicts policies and procedures to mitigate risk
  • Monitor regulatory and ethical developments impacting conflicts management and ensure firmwide compliance
  • Review and analyze conflicts reports, highlighting potential red flags and removing extraneous information
  • Evaluate conflicts of interest under applicable Rules of Professional Conduct and related legal authorities
  • Resolve routine conflicts matters and escalate complex issues to the Office of the General Counsel when appropriate
  • Determine whether conflicts are waivable and assist with preparing conflict waivers and screening protocols
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for conflicts-related questions, providing guidance to attorneys throughout the analysis process
  • Enter and maintain conflicts data, generate reports, conduct research, and present findings to attorneys
  • Lead periodic conflicts training sessions for attorneys and staff
  • Supervise the conflicts team to ensure timely, accurate, and consistent conflicts checks
  • Oversee hiring, onboarding, training, and annual performance reviews for conflicts staff
  • Participate in audits and internal reviews related to conflicts and risk management
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of law firm conflicts management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required; JD or LL.M. preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Rules of Professional Conduct governing conflicts of interest
  • Experience evaluating conflicts for mid- to large-sized law firms
  • Solid understanding of legal ethics, professional responsibility, and risk management
  • Proven leadership and team management capabilities
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with attorneys and staff at all levels
  • Experience with conflicts software such as Elite, Aderant, or Aderant Expert Sierra
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and iManage
