Professional Development Manager/Director

We are seeking a candidate who wants to do something to enhance their experience in Professional Development. The role is 100% remote, and the title is open, depending expertise.
Summary: The Professional Development Manager/Director leads programs that enhance attorney and employee growth, connection, and effectiveness. This role oversees professional development staff, implements innovative workflows, delivers training, and creates networking opportunities to maintain the firm’s dynamic culture.
Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Professional Development staff, ensuring high performance and engagement
- Align department goals and projects with the Firm’s Strategic Plan
- Identify and implement industry best practices in education, professional development, and innovation
Training & Development
- Design and oversee attorney and professional staff training initiatives that support firm learning goals and business objectives, including technical skills, legal skills, and professional skills
- Partner with Deputy Managing Principal to develop and implement associate development program
- Collaborate with firm leaders to develop and deliver leadership training programming
- Oversee all aspects of the firm’s CLE programming, including compliance with all applicable state requirements and management of external CLE vendor relationship
- Manage tracking and reporting of staff compliance with training and educational requirements
- Collaborate with IT to support software launches and upgrades through end-user education
Employee Engagement & Support
- Direct employee engagement programming, including collaborating with the business development team on attorney-specific efforts
- Enhance the firm’s mentor programs
- Oversee the design and delivery of tailored training for new attorney and professional staff hires
- Partner with firm management and practice group leaders to identify needs and determine measurements of success
- Recommend process improvements and workflow optimizations based on identified needs
Program Management
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness through data analysis
- Communicate and coordinate with practice management to maximize program participation and engagement
- Maintain required reporting and documentation
- Other duties, as assigned
Requirements:
The successful candidate must be solution-driven and have outstanding project management skills demonstrated across multiple locations and matrixed organizations, strong knowledge of and proven proficiency in adult learning.
The candidate should also demonstrate:
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively and collaboratively on a team and a growth mindset
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational, interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills
- Ability to build trust and gain buy-in from firm leaders and other key stakeholders
- Ability to take ownership on multiple projects and see them through to completion

Qualifying Experience:
- 10+ years’ experience working in training, education, or professional development in a corporate setting
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Proficiency in training with common office productivity software such as Microsoft Office, Adobe, Teams, etc.
- Law firm or other professional service organization experience preferred
